DOMINIC KERWIN

A well-known and well-travelled performer in the Irish country music scene, Dominic Kirwan got his first bit of success as a performer when he won an Irish Dancing Champion at a young age. Born June 5, 1960, in Omagh, County Tyrone, Dominic Thomas Kirwan carried his love of performance into the creation of his first band, The Melody Boys, in 1979. The Melody Boys would gain a local following with their well-received live shows, but it was a solo success that Kirwan was after, and in 1985 he went off on his own and released a single and album. The single, “Alice In Wonderland,” was a moderate hit, and Kirwan quickly followed it up with a full-length album. In 1989, Kirwan scored a record deal with Ritz Records and would go on to share stages with some of country music’s leading artists, such as Kenny Rogers, Charley Pride, and Tammy Wynette. Over the years Kirwan would release more albums, a handful of DVDs, but — and most importantly — would continue to be a popular live act in his home country.

Dominic Kirwan has the ability to light up any stage that he commands with his warm charismatic approach, his welcoming Irish vocal tones, his genuine engagement with his audience and fans is truly something to be seen. His show covers many musical genres with an eclectic mix of Originality, Classic Country, Rock n Roll, an Irish ballad or two, bringing to you entertainment at its best.
Recently asked about his career to date and his fans, Dominic happily opened up to a warm smile, pondered for a moment and said “I’m lucky to have done what I’ve done to date, seen what I’ve seen, travelled to many beautiful parts of the world, met the many beautiful people I’ve met and to have had the support from the many wonderful fans I have throughout the world .. Along with family and friends, the fans have given me the opportunity to live this life and make my living, for that, I will always be eternally grateful”

With Dominic’s own unique vocal style and instantly recognizable voice, the future unknown to us all will still find a special place in audiences of today and tomorrow for this genuine, sincere and homely boy from Omagh.

SHOOT TO THRILL

Shoot To Thrill includes Kara (vocals), Susan (guitar), Jai (bass), Wendy (guitar) and Kate (drums). Not only are the girls professional musicians with impeccable skills, they are also quite easy on the eyes and full of energy for an entertaining stage show!

The girls decided on AC/DC in particular, because the band’s songs are a marriage of compelling music and creative story-telling. The guitar work is intricate yet not overplayed, while the rhythms are driving and dynamic. The silence is as important as the noise, and the lyrics are relatable and captivating. You just HAVE to sing along….or air-guitar….or BOTH!

The girls decided to do a full tribute rather than a cover band, because a tribute is much more challenging. You play many songs by the same artist and really reach inside that artist copying not only their playing style but also their signature stage moves. It’s really quite an art and very rewarding when you make it all come together.

Shoot To Thrill is based out of Raleigh, NC and tours all along the East Coast. The girls look forward to meeting you and rocking you into an unbelievable frenzy of good times!

THE ABIDERS

THE ABIDERS (Twin Cities, MN) put on an unforgettable show of Americana music with something for everyone – originals and classic blues, country, some folksy stuff too. These musicians have a groove – some special kind of chemistry – that sets their sound apart from the rest and connects with audiences. Whether bangin’ out their originals, gritty ol’ blues or back-hill country, The Abiders deliver their own kind of music full of heart and soul. If it ain’t fun, we ain’t doin’ it!

Who we are: Front ‘n center, the band’s dynamic singer/songwriter, Julie Weisenhorn, adds a driving rhythm guitar and vocals that can be sweet-as-pie one minute, and soulfully bluesy the next. Dr. John Mageli, lead guitar, heals the crowd with sweet guitar riffs of blues, southern rock, and solid rock /n roll. Karl “Karlos” Weisenhorn ices the proverbial musical cake with his cross-harp riffs that bring to mind Junior Wells, Norton Buffalo and Paul Butterfield. Carrying the rest of us on his formidable shoulders and Fender Precision Bass and Hofner “Beatle bass” is Dr. Scott Dee, with his unique, melodic style of percussive bass guitar. Andy Anda, violin and mandolin, tugs at the ol’ heart strings with his gorgeous string work, and Jeff Linnes-Bagley ratchets up our “sax appeal” with his wailing, but tasteful, tenor.

The Abiders formed as a quartet in 2011 through a chance meeting at Sound Sisters Emporium in Excelsior MN. The band’s 2014 CD, Designated Rider, a follow-up to their sampler Pawn Shop and produced by the incomparable Andy Dee, includes originals and covers (+bonus tracks) that demonstrate the talent, excitement and fun this band can bring to any event.

Former members and forever Abiders: Andy Dee, 2011 – 2020; Doug Molland, 2011-2021; Rick Anderson, 2011 – 2017; Bongo John Haga, 2015-2016; Gary Cobus 2017-2018; John A-Frame Beck, 2017-2019; Larry Hayes, 2017-2019

ANDY KIM

Andy Kim is a dreamer.  At the age of 12, Andy had a vision for what he would become.  It is still the child within Andy that leads him along today.

Having scraped together 40 bucks, and much against the better wishes of his parents, Andy boarded a bus from Montreal to New York City.  Andy was only in New York City for a couple of days, but he accomplished his goal.

He just walked into the Brill building, into the offices of Leiber and Stoller, and asked to speak to Jeff Barry.  He was given 5 minutes.  Jeff liked what he heard, and Andy’s musical career got its start.

Eventually, Jeff signed Andy to his Steed record label and he produced and co-wrote Andy’s first top 20 hit, “How’d We Ever Get This Way?”, which sold 800,000 copies.

Andy had a number of other top 20 hits at that time, including the top 5 Baby I Love You, which earned Andy his first gold record selling more than 1.5 million copies.

That same year, he co-wrote “Sugar, Sugar” for fictional popsters The Archies. The song was No. 1 for four weeks and became Billboard’s Record of the Year and the biggest-selling record of the year. Ike and Tina Turner covered the song, so did Wilson Pickett. And so did Bob Marley. All of this, in the year of Woodstock.

In 1970, the very first JUNO Award ever given out was to Andy for Male Vocalist of the Year.

In 1974, Andy wrote a new song called “Rock Me Gently” and absolutely no one wanted to produce it.  Andy loved the song, and he wouldn’t take no for an answer.  He formed his own record company, called !CE, and produced the record on his own.  When it was released, “Rock Me Gently” went straight to #1 on the Billboard charts and it remained on the charts for a staggering 4 months. This second #1 Billboard song added to Andy’s international success.

Suddenly, again, he was a star. He met Elvis. He hung out with Phil Spector. John Lennon handed him his gold record.

After playing at major music festivals, such as The Philadelphia Folk Festival, where he appeared alongside Jim Croce and John Prine, and Mariposa where he gave up half of his concert time so Joni Mitchell could play, he began to attract wider attention on the club circuit, playing such well known rooms as The Riverboat in Toronto, The Bitter End in New York, The Main Point in Philadelphia, and the famous Earl of Old Town in Chicago.

Before Murray had actually recorded an album of his own, his “Child’s Song” was already well known after being recorded by American folk star Tom Rush. Live versions of his song “Honky Red” were performed by Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, and Bobby Neuwirth. He received early song cuts by country music star George Hamilton IV.

Now, thirty odd years later, Murray has eighteen albums to his credit on both True North Records and Capitol Records. His songs have been covered by many other artists as well as being featured in high school text books. He has played, both solo, and with bands in every major hall in Canada, from Massey Hall in Toronto, to the Orpheum in Vancouver and all the Jubilees in between. His band “The Silver Tractors” is still remembered fondly from the TV special “On the Boulevard” for CBC and playing Maple Leaf Gardens with Gordon Lightfoot’s Olympic Team benefit in 1976. It was a very loud band.

CLARK W.

Stereotypically Canadian, with his toque, sleeveless plaid shirt and mullet, a Lake Country man has the country in hysterics over his latest single.

Clark W. wasn’t even finished making the humorous Up Here in Canada video, when it went viral.

The Saskatchewan-born 36-year-old uploaded the video to YouTube to make it easier for some friends to give him feedback.

“The next morning it took off. I only had eight subscribers (all family members most likely) on YouTube at the time so I didn’t think anyone would care or notice if I uploaded it publicly,” said Clark, who now lives in the Okanagan with his wife and two kids.

“But I didn’t account for my mom. So when she saw that I had uploaded a new video, she assumed it was done and ready to share with the world. I woke up the next morning expecting it to have literally two or three views from the friends I was asking for feedback from, and to my surprise it had 50! And the next minute it had 100. I yelled to my wife ‘Who’s watching the video?!!?’ and she yelled back ‘Your mom shared it on her Facebook page!’”

The title comes from a line in one of her new original songs (“Just like that your life can change”), which seemed especially fitting “because there’s never been a time that made me look around and say, ‘Nobody saw this coming’—where all of a sudden, everything shifted.”

Things shifted again at the 2023 Grammy Awards, when Raitt was honored with three trophies for her work on Just Like That…—in the categories of Best Americana Performance, Best American Roots Song, and Song of the Year for the album’s title track. The triumphant night proved yet again that Bonnie Raitt remains one of today’s most powerful artists.

THE CASTELLOES

Layered Lenses

Neo-Traditional Country music trio, The Castellows, bring a literal meaning to the phrase, “family tradition.” The band comprised of sisters Ellie (lead guitar), Powell (banjo) and Lily (vocals), hail from small rural Georgetown, Georgia, but now call Nashville home. The Castellows’ sound is traditional, yet modern. Authentic, yet harnessed. The common thread among the trio, other than their DNA, is their masterful three-part harmonies which blend together to create one singular, almost angelic, voice. The Castellows’ craft as songwriters is as robust as their voices, which is evident across the trio’s debut EP, A Little Goes A Long Way, which released worldwide on February 9, 2024. The band wrote/co-wrote six of the seven songs that make up the project, with the promise of much more music to come. The band began turning heads of music industry insiders in January 2023. When spring arrived, The Castellows had signed a record deal with Warner Music Nashville & Warner Records, collectively. Wasting no time on pleasantries, The Castellows immediately got to work writing, recording, and performing live. Tapping veteran producer Trina Shoemaker (Sheryl Crow, Nanci Griffith, Queens of the Stone Age), the first fruits of labor to be harvested from 2023 is the debut A Little Goes A Long Way. One year later, the three sisters from a cattle farm in Georgia are still turning heads, touting their first major award-nomination for CMT Digital-First Performance of the Year at the 2024 CMT Music Awards, announcing they’ll hit the road in the fall of 2024 with Little Big Town and Sugarland on the Take Me Home Tour, while also being named a SiriusXM “Highway Find” artist for The Highway (Ch. 56), all the very SAME week. Previously, The Castellows landed on multiple 2024 ‘Watch Lists’ including CMT Next Women of Country, CMT ‘Listen Up,’ Pandora, Country Now, and Nashville Lifestyles’ ‘Five Groups You Need To Know.’

THE MAVERICKS

Layered Lenses

The Mavericks have always been explorers.

For decades, they’ve created the kind of multicultural Americana that reaches far beyond America itself, blending their favorite stateside sounds — including rock & roll, country, and R&B — with Tex-Mex twang, Cuban rhythms, Jamaican ska, and other Latin influences. The exploration continues with Moon & Stars, a progressive album that finds Raul Malo and company continuing to push the envelope, exploring the outer orbits of an organic, otherworldly sound that remains entirely their own.
“This record took us to places we’ve never gone before,” says frontman, co-producer, and chief songwriter Malo, whose voice — a booming baritone that continues to age like top-shelf whiskey and fine leather, becoming richer and more pliable with each album — remains one of the band’s calling cards. “It’s a collection of tales from the universe. We’ve traveled around the world, gathering new stories and new sounds, and this is what we have to show for it. Moon & Stars is our cosmic energy put into practice.”
