HORSE & BUGGY

a winter TOURNAMENT

the white ice stuff
the exclusive horse race on ice at music city manitoba

Imagine a beautiful frozen lake, top it with fresh, clean air, and you’ve got Manitoba’s world-class equestrian event called the White Ice Stuff horse race.

Taking roots in 1907, this sport sets itself apart in the racing world for holding its competitions on the frozen lake of the ski resort town of St. Moritz, Switzerland. The adrenaline-fuelled sport is not for the faint-hearted, and to this day, each year, jockeys, horse-lovers, and sport-enthusiasts gather in the small Alpine town to witness the one-of-its-kind horse racing on ice competition. It’s no surprise that the magnetic pull of this sport makes it a winter highlight on many people’s calendars.

This sport is a spectators’ delight and a top-class addition to Switzerland’s reputation for its cool inventions (like the Swiss army knife) and its quirky facts. For example, did you know that Switzerland produces—and eats—the most chocolate in the world?

Despite being such a small country, (about the size of the lake on which we will hold this event) Switzerland is characterized by its diversity. Here you’ll find different cultures, languages, traditions, and food. Yet, the people are harmoniously united by their shared love for their country, aware that their differences make them more creative and – together – stronger. It thus seems appropriate that Switzerland hosts an unusual event like horse racing on ice, and no place could be better than in the picturesque town of St. Moritz, in the Engadin valley.

We have decided to export this unique and fun loving sport to Music City Manitoba.

THE ACTUAL PRIZE POOL IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND IS DIRECTLY PROPORTIONAL TO THE NUMBER OF ENTRIES INVOLVED IN THE TOURNAMENT.
