“The beat of contemporary music never appealed to me”, Wick-born Brandon McPhee says recalling how he got into traditional Scottish music. “Traditional music felt so right and there was never a plan B.”
Brandon credits his grandfather, himself a button key accordion player, with introducing the young boy to the instrument. He recalls being ten years of age and picking up the instrument and never looking back.

Brian Sklar started playing music as a child. He would take the long walk with his violin over the North Saskatchewan River bridge in Prince Albert Saskatchewan to the Academy Presentation of Mary, where he took lessons from Soeur (Sister) Gertrude Des Anges. At the age of eight, he won a silver medal from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, achieving the highest test score in Saskatchewan. Five years later, after spending several years with the Prince Albert Concert Orchestra, Sklar shifted gears and became an old-time fiddler, joining the Halldorson Family Orchestra, and later, at the age of 16, forming his own group.
At the age of 19, he went on tour for a year, playing mining towns in northern Ontario and the northern United States. It turned out to be the never-ending tour, which has included performances with virtually all of the legends of the Grand Ol Opry, including an appearance on the world-famous show with his good friend, Jean Shepard.
Sklar has a room full of awards from country music associations all over North America and Europe. He has, at this writing, done 43 European tours, recorded 39 albums, hosted and/or appeared in over 310 network and syndicated television shows, played 42 Calgary Stampedes, over 60 telethons, helped raise in excess of ten million dollars for children’s charities, has an impressive display in the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame, and most recently was accepted as a member of the Canadian Association of Country Music Legends. On December 6th, 2007, he added the title “Grammy Nominee” to that list of achievements.
Although he is best known as a country entertainer, Brian Sklar has had a long association with polka music. It all started during his childhood years, when he would hang around in front of the stage at family weddings. Just about every band had an accordion player in those days, and just about every radio and television station programmed live polka music, usually on Saturday afternoons. Groups like the Canadian Polka Kings and the Happy Roamin’ Rangers played Cleveland-style polkas, and Sklar was totally taken with the happy staccato sound of the music.
So it was no surprise when after a night of jamming in 1976, Sklar suggested that a group of musicians travel to Edmonton to cut an album. The Western Senators were born.

Durham County Poets are a Canadian blues band from Ormstown, Quebec. They are most noted for their 2019 album Hand Me Down Blues, which was a Juno Award nominee for Blues Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2020 .
They’ve undergone their fair share of changes over the years, yet the core of the group including lead singer Kevin Harvey, Carl Rufh, bass player, and drummer Rob Couture remain. The other founding members, David Whyte, Neil Elsmore and James Preimel are no longer able to tour with the group but are still actively involved. Now, guitarist extraordinaire Rob MacDonald has comfortably stepped in bringing his unique playing, personality and musical skills to the group. Throw in tenor saxophonist & arranger Mark Leclerc in the mix, and you have an incredible five piece band. Want a little more? How about saxophonist Kaven Jalbert with his joy and exuberance into the mix now you have a band that is a force to be reckoned with!

In early 1979, Tommy C started his first band and secured a talent agent. He played every gig the agent provided including weddings, dance parties, frat houses, teen clubs, and smoky nightclubs and everywhere the talent agent would book him. The following year, Tommy C’s agent booked him on dozens of shows across the US and Canada including backing up various national recording artists for the Autorama, The World of Wheels custom car shows, Dick Clark’s Caravan of Stars, Wolfman Jack’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Revivals, as well as Richard Nader Entertainment. Nader was one of the very first revival producers of classic rock ‘n’ roll concerts.
Tommy C has performed LIVE, ON-STAGE with such legendary acts as Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis, Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, Four Tops, Conway Twitty, Freddy Cannon, and Charlie Pride. Tommy C also enjoyed 10 years working with Chubby Checker as his Musical Director. Those experiences combined with Tommy C’s UNSTOPPABLE work ethic and love for music have given him “the edge” to perform Rock ‘n’ Roll as it should be.
Tommy C has been rocking crowds around the globe since 1979. His years of experience have now culminated into his new venture; TOMMY C and The Black Widow Grease Band. This group of highly adrenalized, high octane rockers are bringing his Detroit Motor City way of rock ’n’ roll to music aficionados from Coast to Coast and beyond for a tribute to the Greatest Era of American Rock n Roll …. Hailing from different areas of the Interlake combining powerful songwriting, singing and instrumental performances that leave every crowd in awe Wreckin’ So shows no signs of slowing down. Recently the band opened for Cheap Trick and left such an impression on Cheap Trick and the crowd that the legendary Rick Nielsen had Wreckin’ So guitarist Ronnie Ladobruk use his vintage Les Paul and come out to perform “Surrender” with them. No matter where they go Wreckin’ So leaves an impression.
In the past year Wreckin’ So has shared the stage with acts such as Quiet Riot, Nazareth, Buckcherry, Three Days Grace, Default, Harlequin just to name a few. Playing some of the biggest and most acclaimed venues, events and becoming one of the most in demand bands in Central Canada. Fronted by Vocalist and Guitarist Brent Alarie, Lead Guitarist Ronnie Ladobruk, Bassist Claude Deveau and Drummer Ryan Wiebe the band is no stranger to hitting the road and winning over every audience they play for.
