When Eliza Doyle’s car broke down in Nashville in 2015, she found herself happily stuck in Music City.  The venerable Saskatchewan banjo player and singer/songwriter had stopped in to see a festival and ended up enjoying an extended stay, playing in bars and meeting all manner of talented musicians.  Having been on sabbatical to follow her muse anyway, it seemed like fate urging her to keep on the well-worn path to musical fulfillment.

Doyle has had a twenty year career in groups, as a solo artist, as a professional session musician, playing banjo, singing, and performing with the banjo, dobro, guitar, and mandolin.  She has released nine full-length albums, won a Juno with the group The Dead South (which she toured with from 2016-2018), and has toured Canada, the USA and Europe extensively.  Doyle has been a regional finalist in CBC’s Searchlight Canada competition and past winner of Bell Media’s contest, The Next Big Thing

Most recently, she’s co-founded a non-profit, C.A.M.P (Community Arts Mentorship Program) to bring music programming to remote and underserved Indigenous and Metis communities in Saskatchewan, winning her a CBC Top 40 Under 40 Award, as well as an Industry Achievement Award in 2021 and 2022, and nominations in both 2020 and 2023.

Doyle’s latest studio album, “Pretty Strange” is a 10 track collection of bangers captured live at Sidekick Studios in Nashville, TN on May 4th, 2022. Recently released March 1st 2023, it summarizes Doyle’s progression as an artist by framing her unique and catchy, melody driven songwriting style in the context of an exciting alt- country/folk sound. With driving banjo, guitar and pedal steel licks throughout to keep the listener engaged and eager to discover each track, her fresh take on the Americana genre is a welcomed addition to the scene.

Their on-stage antics are complimented by tales from their adventures on the road: from performing at the legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool (where the Beatles cut their teeth), to hearing how Rock n’ Roll came to Canada first-hand from the legendary Ronnie Hawkins, to swimming in Elvis Presley’s pool! The Dreamboats are bringing back sounds from this timeless era forward for a new generation to discover.

Founded in 1966, Canned Heat rose to fame because their knowledge and love of blues music was both wide and deep. Canned Heat attained three worldwide hits with their rock anthems “On The Road Again,” “Going Up The Country,” and “Let’s Work Together.” They secured their niche in rock ‘n roll history with their performances at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival and a headlining slot at the original Woodstock Festival in 1969. Now, more than fifty years later and with forty albums to their credit, Canned Heat is still going strong. Canned Heat remains committed to delighting their fans with creativity and musical energy as they continue to play “live” throughout the U.S. and around the world.

René Shuman (born 5 December 1967) is a Dutch singer, guitarist, songwriter and producer.

Shuman gained national fame through his performance in Henny Huisman‘s Soundmixshow.[1] He came in second with Elvis Presley‘s repertoire, a rendition of the songs “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” and “Don’t Be Cruel“.[2] He performed several times with the original band members of Elvis Presley, both in group form and individually. He was on stage with the Jordanaires (Presley’s original vocal group), the TCB Band, drummer DJ Fontana, Cherrill Nielsen, Charly Hodge and guitarist Scotty Moore. In 1999, Shuman presented Scotty Moore with a Lifetime Achievement Award in Amsterdam.

Shuman has been nicknamed the “Dutch Elvis”.[3] Despite the fact that the Dutch public often associates Shuman with the music of Elvis Presley, it took until 2003 before he released a cover of ‘the King’ together with singer Angel-Eye. His repertoire until then was mostly self-produced.

Shuman included “Rhythm of My Heart“, a song written by Marc Jordan and John Capek, on his 1986 debut album, René Shuman. In 1991, British singer Rod Stewart recorded the song for his album Vagabond Heart. Stewart’s version reached No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart, No. 5 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and No. 1 on the Canadian and Irish charts.
